Next Date: 25th November at 6 pm.

Tuesday 26th November at 7 pm. This will be the first meeting of the new Church Council formed by Chapel Lane, Ellesmere, Lee Bridges and Welshampton.  Methodist Conference in 2021 passed a resolution that Churches should be made up of a minimum number of 12 locally resident members.  What did not change was that there should also be a minimum of 7 members who are Managing Trustees (named Church Council members) and there must be 7 of them present at each meeting.  It was also resolved by Conference that if either, the minimum membership of 12 and/or the Church Council membership of 7, fell below that for four quarters then the Circuit must close the church.  One of the ways to ensure that chapels remain open is that they join together. Given that the Church Council membership at Ellesmere has not reached 7 for many more quarters than four, and the other churches have a much lower membership than 12, over the past year they have been considering joining together.  This decision was made by each church and took effect on the 1st September.  You are invited to attend if you are interested in the plans for the future, or if you would like to become a Managing Trustee and therefore part of the leadership of the new merged church.
