From our Treasurer, Mike Jackson: “On last week’s notices I contributed a paragraph concerning energy bills. Please disregard this as things have moved on since! I indicated that the church’s energy supplier from May 2024 would be British Gas Lite. This week I received a call from the Circuit’s recommended energy broker saying this was no longer possible. The reason relates to a misunderstanding on their part occurring when they recommended the previous contract 3 years ago. Instead of using British Gas Lite we will obtain our gas and electricity from EON/NEXT for the next 3 years. The second error was a misunderstanding on my part. In discussions with the brokers last week I thought we were discussing both electricity and gas, but we were only covering electricity. The contract with EON/NEXT is for both. As with the proposed British Gas Lite contract the additional annual cost for gas will be about £350 per year. However, the additional annual cost for electricity is likely to be about £600 per year. This means that in total we are going to have to find an extra £950 per year. This will be quite a challenge.”
