Forest Church at Welsh End Chapel 4.00 – 6.00 pm led by Ann Threadgold. This is the first meeting of this year. (See below for details)

Friday 7th March at 7 pm A service for the World Day of Prayer at St. Mary’s Parish Church Ellesmere, concentrating on the Cook Islands.
Saturday 8th March 10 am – noon. Coffee morning including a raffle and ‘bring-and-buy’ table at Welshampton Parish Hall in support of Our Space.
Sunday 9th March at 10.30 am “Open Doors” at Orleton Methodist Church, Tunnel Lane, Orleton SY8 4HR. A cafe church morning led by Bill & Diana Thomas from Weston-super-Mare. Open Doors is an organisation continuing the work of Brother Andrew who smuggled Bibles into the USSR during the Cold War and now assists persecuted Christians worldwide.
Advance Notices
Friday 28th March at 9.30 am Difficult Questions at Ruthie’s. Future dates will be: 25th April, 23rd May and 27th June. We are looking at Rev. Neil Richardson’s book “Who on Earth is God?”. We welcome anyone who would like to join this informal and supportive group.
Saturday 5th April at 3 pm “Simply Celebrate” at Ellesmere. A light, accessible service of relaxed worship and activity followed by refreshments welcoming people with limited ability and their carers. Everyone welcome. These meetings alternate between Ellesmere Methodist church and St. Mary’s Parish church. Dates are: 7th June at St. Mary’s; 9th August at Ellesmere. Further information from the organisers: Rev. Forest Church. This is held on the first Sunday of each month during the summer. It is a time when tasks (e.g. weeding and planting) are done, followed by a time of sharing and refreshments. All welcome. Next date is: 15th March at 2 pm at Moors chapel. The theme is “Soil”. You are welcome to bring a poem/reflection to share as we explore and enjoy God’s creation together.
Easter Sunday at Colemere at 7.30 am Sunrise service followed by breakfast at the side of the mere at Colemere. Other Easter services will be advertised nearer the time.
Sunday 1st June at 11.00 am. All the northern end churches will join the usual service at Ellesmere to receive donations made via the Easter Offerings envelopes. We will also hear about the work of Methodist Women in Britain and the people and organisations they help. (See further information on the notice board where refreshments are served).
Other Notices
District Merger There is a new website for West Midlands Methodist District: https://www.wmmethodists.org.uk The site allows you to sign up for notifications and half-hour communication zooms as we approach the merger on 1st September of our own Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury District with the Birmingham District. There will be a service for the joining of the two districts on 30th August at Walsall Central Hall.
Facebook. You can follow us on Facebook “Ellesmere Methodist Church“, “Shropshire and Marches” and for the mobile outreach trailer “Memo Shropshire”.
Mothers & Toddlers. Mothers bring their toddlers on Tuesday mornings to play in the schoolroom. If anyone would like to help the current volunteers please, they would be grateful. It would involve a commitment of only once per month, from 8.45 – 11.00am, serving hot drinks and tidying up afterwards. Please speak to Julia.
