Friday 31st May at 9.30 am “Difficult Questions” at Jane’s. (If needed, please contact Ruthie for her address.) We are happy to welcome new faces to this informal gathering where views are openly discussed and respected. You can come and go as you please, it is not a series, each session stands alone. In this session we will be discussing issues arising from the film “The Theory of Everything” about the life of Stephen Hawking. Please let Rev. Julia know if you would like to come, from whom further information is available.

Thursday 6th June at 6 pm Everyone is welcome at Moors Lane Methodist church for an hour of peace, prayer and meditation. See the notice in the foyer for information.
Saturday 8th June 10 am – noon. Coffee morning at Welshampton Parish Hall in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, including a bring-and-buy table and raffle.

Saturday 22nd June at 3 pm “Simply Celebrate” at St Mary’s Parish Church Ellesmere.
A light accessible service of worship and activity followed by refreshments welcoming people with limited mobility or attention to be joined by loved ones, carers and friends. This is a new initiative of Churches Together in Ellesmere and will occur every other month alternating between St. Mary’s Parish and Ellesmere Methodist churches. See notice in the foyer.

Forest Church with Carys Woodley. Informal monthly meetings spending time in nature and encountering God, each with a different theme. Contact Carys for more information. The next meeting is on 22nd June at 2.30 pm at Oswestry Old Racecourse SY10 7HW. The theme is wildflowers, birds and insects.

From our Treasurer, Mike Jackson: “Currently the church obtains its electricity and gas from British Gas Lite. This arrangement takes the form of a 3-year fixed contract which started in May 2022. We have been fortunate that the contract was entered into prior to the large rise in energy prices and therefore over the last 2 years our bills have been lower than comparable household bills. We arrange these contracts on the advice of the Circuit’s recommended energy broker Exchange Utility. Although the current contract still has a year to run, Exchange Utility has advised us that now is the time to take out a contract which will follow the current one. Their advice is that we should continue to obtain energy from British Gas Lite via a new 3-year contract. Although we are staying with the same company, it was inevitable that there would be a price increase built into the new contract. As of May 2025, we can therefore expect our gas and electric bill to rise by approximately £350 per year.”
